For some patients, healthy diet and rigorous exercise aren’t enough for dramatic weight loss. The Duke Center for Metabolic & Weight Loss Surgery offers several different surgical methods to help those at risk for serious weight-related health issues. We combine advanced surgical techniques with comprehensive counseling to help patients welcome newfound freedom and long-term success.
We offer the following bariatric surgery procedures at Duke Regional Hospital:
- Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
- Sleeve Gastrectomy
- Adjustable Gastric Banding (Lap-Band)
- Duodenal Switch
- Revisional Bariatric Surgery
These procedures can be performed with laparoscopic, single-incision laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted approaches.
Our group of six fellowship-trained surgeons and complement of three clinical fellows have a combined experience of more than 5,000 procedures. Members of the faculty are prominent and active in academia and research at the national level, with a focus on the safe and effective treatment of obesity. We are leaders in innovative surgical techniques and technologies.
The surgical team is backed by a team of expert staff, including dieticians, nurse practitioners, and psychologists, dedicated to guiding patients through their weight loss journey—in the weeks before surgery and in the months and years after.
Duke Regional Hospital is recognized as a Center of Excellence by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, CIGNA, and OptumHealth for weight loss surgery.
